Henri Nestle's research and product development provided hope for young lives and mothers.
In 1867, Henri Nestle was concerned about the high infant mortality rate due to malnutrition. His continuous research in the pursuit of "alternative foods for infants who could not accept breast milk" led him to develop milk-based foods for infants and establish a small company for producing and selling them. This small company marked the very beginning of the Nestle Group, which has today become the world's largest food manufacturer.
In addition to the Nestle trademark, the ideals of Henri Nestle have been passedalong to all Nestle employees.
The figure that depicts a mother bird lovingly watching its babies - Nestle 's bird's nest trademark - has been passed along to the present time. This mark was first utilized for the company's milk-based infant foods to symbolize a mother's love in caring for her children. This mark and the ideals behind it, based on a noble social mission, still reside within each of our employees.
Nestle continues to provide the world with great taste and nutrition - enhancing our ability to achieve WellBeing and happiness.
The basic foundation for the Nestle Group of today was created through a merger of the Societe Anonyme Farine Lactee Henri Nestle which established the Nestle and Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company. The new company subsequently developed a variety of innovative products, including soluble coffee, and has now expanded to become a comprehensive food-manufacturing company. Nestle continues to provide the world with great taste and nutrition, and to promote WellBeing and happiness.
